My very good friend, Genevieve Simms, asked if I’d like to help with an informal workshop at the NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) Nest. The NAIT Nest is the campus bar and fun-time-haver. There are red velvet curtains hung up and there is no natural light allowed in. There are also nachos and beer and sports guys at the next table.
7 participants made 14 instant books in the span of a couple hours. It was fun and felt nice to keep things simple (most of the books are just white paper, black ink or marker, and a bit of pencil crayon here and there.) Things don’t have to be so fancy and so pre-planned. Sometimes spontaneous book making is the best book making.
I’m gonna post 10 or 11 of the workshop books in the next week or two. Thanks to the participants and Genevieve for coming up with the plan.
